The Majority Leader in Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has called on the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) to release documents related to the sale of its shares in four hotels to Dr. Bryan Acheampong, the Minister for Food and Agriculture.

SSNIT is nearing the final stages of selling 60% of its shares in the Elmina Beach Resort, Ridge Royal Hotel, La Palm Royal Beach Resort, and Labadi Beach Hotel to Rock City Hotel, owned by Dr. Acheampong. Concerns about a potential conflict of interest have been raised by stakeholders, including North Tongu MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, who has petitioned CHRAJ to investigate the deal.

Afenyo-Markin has urged SSNIT to provide a detailed public explanation, emphasizing that they must release the relevant documents and address the issue transparently.

He stated that SSNIT should clarify their decisions and other failing investments, noting that this matter is not political.

He believes that if explained clearly, focusing on the substance rather than the individuals involved, the TUC and other labor unions will understand.
