Czech President Petr Pavel injured while riding a motorcycle
Czech President Petr Pavel has been hospitalized after sustaining injuries while riding a motorcycle, according to his office.
The injuries are described as “not serious,” but a brief observation period was deemed necessary, though no further details were provided.
The accident occurred on a closed racing circuit, as confirmed by Czech police, so no investigation is being conducted as it didn’t happen on public roads.
Pavel, aged 62 and known for his passion for motorbikes, was reportedly racing a BMW R1200 GS at the time.
This incident isn’t the first time Pavel’s motorcycle hobby has garnered attention. Last year, he publicly apologized after being seen riding without a helmet.
A former high-ranking NATO general, Pavel assumed the presidency of the Czech Republic in March 2023.
Shortly after his inauguration, he rode a motorbike to Germany, emphasizing the strengthening of relations with Bavarian friends.
Thursday’s accident adds to Pavel’s list of extracurricular injuries.
In April, he suffered a minor eyebrow laceration while at a shooting range, using a rifle equipped with an optic.
