Bagbin to direct Subsidiary Legislation Committee on dialysis cost hike
Alban Bagbin, the Speaker of Parliament, intends to charge the Subsidiary Legislation Committee with addressing the steep rise in dialysis costs.
He cited the country’s poverty levels as exacerbating the difficulty in accessing treatment. Dialysis fees at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital surged from GH¢380 to GH¢491, prompting concerns among kidney patients about affordability.
Bagbin plans to utilize Order 93, Rule 6 to direct the Subsidiary Legislation Committee to engage relevant agencies for a resolution.
He emphasized the importance of these discussions to mitigate the impact of the price hikes.
