NCCE Deputy Regional Director Urges Peaceful Conduct at Voter Registration Centers Amidst Reports of Violence

Deputy Regional Director of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) in the Western Region, Lan Kwame Tugbenu, has warned Ghanaians to refrain from engaging in or causing violence at registration centres in the ongoing limited voter exercise.

In an interview on Spice FM, Mr. Tugbenu says the commission has noted the level of violence and disturbances at nationwide registration centres.

Mr. Kwame Tugbenu noted the exercise carried out by the Electoral Commission which is backed by the 1992 Constitution, and should not be downplayed.

According to him, the importance of the exercise is to enable new registrants to get their names into the EC’s register to enable them to exercise their franchise in the upcoming elections.

Mr. Tugbenu, additionally, cautioned all new registrants as well as party officials to observe all protocols by the EC.
