As a celeb, the “high time” pressure go catch you if you are not strong -Wei Ye Oteng

Ghanaian music producer Wei Ye Oteng has propounded that if you are not as strong as a celebrity, other celebrities living luxuriously might be a threat to you, and you might begin to feel pressured by their lifestyle.

The artiste manager of Obrafour detailed how some celebrities are being pressured by the lavish lifestyles of other celebrities. Not only that, they also get depressed by ‘talks’ generated from their simple lives by bloggers, journalists, and the general public.

“Who said an artiste can’t wear a particular dress or shoe twice? But here in Ghana, if an artiste repeats a dress, it will begin on social media, then bloggers will start blogging, giving it unhealthy headlines, then over to presenters and their pundits. Based on these attitudes, our artiste feel compelled to change and look new all the time rather than repeating, and this takes a toll on their lives,”

Wei Ye Oteng also made known how most of the artistes living lavishly are not living per their musical wages but instead relying on money from other sources.

“You who feel pressurized might be solely living according to your musical income, but on the other hand, those you feel pressurized by are depending on other sources other than your musical income. You need to beware and be careful. They might not tell you, but that’s the truth. If you don’t take care, this pressure will have a serious hold on your life, causing you to live a life you can’t keep up with.

Sometimes some people are smart enough to realize this and withdraw. Living a life as a celebrity is very difficult. Some of them have to rent cars for events and other places. It’s not normal, but it has come to be normal”, he admitted.

The music producer made all these revelations on Spice FM’s Ofie ne Fie with Nana Ama Shancy. Wei Ye Oteng mentioned some celebrities who are now living abroad and living normally because they can’t keep up with the celebrity lifestyle here in Ghana since their careers aren’t as vibrant as before and they can’t afford to be stigmatized.

Wei Ye Oteng also advised celebrities to save at their peak to avoid future depression and drug use.

“Even though the moment dictates your lifestyle, make sure to save at your peak while going for extravagant shopping and living to avoid future depression, which can gradually result in drug use,” he cautioned.
