Bawumia announces release of GH¢177M for nursing trainee allowances
Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia has announced the disbursement of GH¢177 million to the Health Ministry to settle outstanding allowances owed to nursing trainees nationwide.
The nursing trainee allowance, previously discontinued but reinstated by the Akufo-Addo administration, has been in arrears for several months.
Dr. Bawumia assured nurses and midwives in Accra that the funds would be transferred on Thursday.
He stated, “This Thursday, the Controller is transferring GH¢177 million to the Ministry of Health to pay the nursing training allowances. So I have also alerted Dr. Okoe-Boye to be on standby when the money hits the Ministry of Health account, they should move it quickly to the accounts of the nursing trainees so that they will have their alawa. It will drop.”
