US teenager awarded $15M in scholarships, accepted by 231 universities
Madison Crowell, an 18-year-old from Georgia, has garnered scholarship approvals totaling $15 million after receiving acceptance letters from 231 universities.
She shared with ABC that her motivation stemmed from wanting to inspire others that they too could gain admission to any college they aspired to.
Choosing High Point University in North Carolina, Crowell expressed her enthusiasm for the institution, calling it “one of the best decisions” she’s made.
While the exact amount she will receive from her scholarships remains undisclosed, American students can apply for scholarships with each university application.
Crowell, who is graduating from Liberty County High School, emphasized her desire to demonstrate to fellow Liberty County residents, particularly those in challenging economic circumstances, that prestigious universities are within reach.
About 14% of Liberty County’s population lives in poverty, according to Census data.
High Point University’s president, Nido Qubein, praised Crowell’s achievements, stating, “We are excited to welcome Madison. She is going to do exceptional things.”
Crowell’s path to success began in middle school when her parents began taking her on university tours.
She intends to pursue a science degree at High Point and eventually earn a doctorate in physical therapy.
Despite facing rejections from a few universities during her extensive application process, including the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Tulane University, Crowell encouraged her peers to maintain a positive outlook and manage stress effectively.
She emphasized the importance of maintaining mental well-being and finding outlets to relieve stress.
