Man detained after alleged attempt to enter Drake’s home
A man has been taken into custody for reportedly trying to enter Canadian rapper Drake’s residence in Toronto, just a day after a security guard was shot outside the same property.
Police have not established a link between the two incidents.
The ongoing rap feud between Drake and Kendrick Lamar has attracted attention, but authorities have not tied it to these events. It remains unclear whether Drake was present during either incident.
Providing details of the attempted break-in on Wednesday, police stated they responded to a notification at 14:00 EDT (18:00 GMT) about an individual trying to enter the property.
The person was apprehended under Ontario’s Mental Health Act and received medical assistance.
The Mental Health Act allows police to detain individuals showing signs of mental health issues for medical evaluation instead of making an arrest.
Toronto police clarified that no criminal charges were filed at this time.
On Tuesday, a security guard was shot outside Drake’s home, resulting in serious injuries.
The property is situated in Toronto’s upscale Bridle Path neighborhood.
Drake and Kendrick Lamar have been exchanging diss tracks in a highly publicized feud, but their rivalry is not linked to the recent incidents.
The cover art of Lamar’s latest song, “Not Like Us,” features Drake’s home, known as The Embassy, which he has mentioned in his music and social media posts.
The property’s security measures include gates twice the standard height due to security considerations.
