Port of Takoradi supports WR GJA’s rebranding efforts

Marketing and Public Affairs Manager of Port of Takoradi, Dr. Kingsley Antwi-Boasiako, has advocated for a strong and effective partnership between the media and corporate institutions, recognising how such an arrangement will be of benefit to both parties.

For example, he praised and described as enviable how the Port of Takoradi and the media fraternity in the Western Region, and beyond have been able to coexist and complement the work of each other since “we need each other to succeed.

“It’s admirable how, over the years, we have worked with the media, especially in the Western Region, to advance the course of our business. The relationship has been cordial as we both recognise and appreciate the work of each other, and we hope to continue working together to make such a partnership even stronger.

Making a presentation of six swivel chairs and a cheque donation of fifteen thousand cedis, in response to a request, to the Western Region branch of the Ghana Journalists Association, Dr. Antwi-Boasiako explained that one of the operational beliefs of the Port of Takoradi is to assist communities and identifiable groups, such as the GJA, in its operational area through its corporate social responsibility initiatives, and “we have and continue to demonstrate our commitment to this as evidenced in the numerous gestures dotted across our operational area.

“We also strongly believe that, as a big corporation, it is essential that we grow with the community we operate in and make them feel valued as part of our business, as that engenders positive relationships.

He emphasised that “on our part, especially the vision of the Director of Port of Takoradi, Peter Amo-Bediako, is to continue to work to maintain our beautiful relationship with you, the media, and we will hope that you will reciprocate our goodwill when necessary.

Receiving the items on behalf of the association, Shirley Ewurama Smith, Western Region Secretary, said such recognition only serves as a good tonic in “our continuous strive for professionalism in our everyday work, as we know how critical such will be in shaping the fortunes of institutions like GPHA.

“The understanding that we are needed. The recognition that a collaboration with the media is essential only spurs us on to do more. Ours is to, among many things, strive to create the necessary synergies for the development of a person, community, or society, organisations like your good self, GPHA, and Ghana in general.

“We don’t take your response to our call for help renovating our press house for granted. We do hope that, we will work together to maintain this partnership of ours.”

New Press Center

The Desmond Cudjoe Administration, since it assumed the reins of power, has embarked on a vigorous rebranding drive, to which some companies and individuals, including the Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin, contributed.

The rebranding includes giving the regional Press Center a new look, furnished with modern equipment in line with growing modern trends.

When the renovation is complete, the centre will be fitted with air conditioning, internet access, computers, and a standby generator.

“The idea is that the centre will become conducive enough for our members to come and file stories, research on stories, as well as become grounds for our continuous training,” said Desmond Cudjoe, Western Region Chairman of the Ghana Journalists Association.

Last week, the association organised the second edition of its much anticipated “Kenkey Party,” which saw colleagues from private and state-owned media houses and partners from corporations, networking. The “Kenkey Party” is intended to create and maintain a good working relationship among journalists in the region and with partners from corporations,” Desmond Cudjoe added.
