Okoe-Boye clarifies he’s not breaking any laws as Health Minister designate
Dr. Bernard Okoe-Boye, the designated Minister of Health, has dismissed allegations of operating unlawfully within the Health Ministry amid delays in his parliamentary approval.
Concerns have arisen regarding the legality of his involvement in ministry affairs due to the pending confirmation by Parliament.
However, speaking to the press in Accra, Dr. Okoe-Boye asserted his legitimacy, referencing official documentation from the Presidency supporting his role.
He emphasized that he and a selected group of colleagues had received letters from the Chief of Staff designating them as representatives of the President in certain ministries to ensure continuity and prevent disruptions, particularly in critical sectors like healthcare.
Dr. Okoe-Boye stated, “Because His Excellency the President doesn’t want the country to stall, [in a bid to prevent some] key sectors like health from suffering from lack of direction, some of us, let me be specific to myself, have received letters from the Chief of Staff making us representatives. I am the representative of His Excellency the President at the Ministry of Health.”
