MR. KOJO ENNIN OPPAN TAKES HELM AS ACTING NATIONAL PRESIDENT OF TUSAAG
In a recent announcement by the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Technical University Senior Administrators Association of Ghana (TUSAAG), Mr. Kojo Ennin Oppan, the Director of ICT at Takoradi Technical University, has been appointed as the Acting National President of the Association, effective from 1st May, 2024.
This decision comes following the resignation of Mr. Joseph Mensah Oti-Asirifi, who vacated the position of National President to assume the role of Executive Secretary to the Vice Chancellors of Technical Universities of Ghana.
The appointment was made in accordance with the TUSAAG National Constitution (November, 2020), specifically Articles 8(3), 8(2)(5), 9(16), and 11(7).
This move was deemed necessary for ensuring continuity and stability in the leadership of the Association, especially considering the circumstances where the Vice President was unable to step in as President, as outlined in Article 8(2)(5).
Therefore, the NEC, as mandated by Article 11(7), filled the vacancy by appointing Mr. Oppan as Acting National President.
Mr. Oppan’s tenure as Acting National President will last until elections are arranged for a substantive National President, adhering to the constitutional provisions of TUSAAG.
His dedication and commitment to the values and objectives of TUSAAG were duly recognized by Mrs. Elizabeth Nda Amihere, the General Secretary of TUSAAG, who expressed confidence in his ability to fulfill his duties with diligence and integrity.
Notification of Mr. Oppan’s appointment was dispatched to various government officials, including the Honorable Ministers of Education, Employment and Labour Relations, Ghana Tertiary Education Commission, the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission, as well as the National Labour Commission, and other relevant bodies.
In accepting the appointment, Mr. Oppan expressed gratitude to the NEC for entrusting him with this responsibility. He pledged to devote his efforts towards advancing the interests of TUSAAG and contributing to the enhancement of the technical education sector in Ghana.
