Minority attributes current power outages solely to mismanagement
The Minority Caucus in Parliament argues that privatizing the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) won’t solve the recurring power outages.
They attribute the recent outages to the government’s significant debts owed to Independent Power Producers.
Dr. Rashid Pelpuo, a Member of the Mines and Energy Committee of Parliament, blames the resurgence of ‘dumsor’ on the government’s mismanagement of the energy sector.
He emphasizes that the government’s failure to pay private sector suppliers and its overall mismanagement, rather than ECG’s privatization status, are the root causes of the problem.
