KPMG’s audit into the revenue mobilization arrangement between the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Ltd (SML) revealed that SML received a total payment of GH¢1,061,054,778.00 from 2018 to the present.

This disclosure came through a press statement from Eugene Arhin, the Communications Director of the Presidency, on Wednesday, April 24.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo commissioned KPMG to audit the contract on January 2, 2024. Initially scheduled to conclude by January 16, 2024, the audit was extended to February 23, 2024, following the president’s directive on January 24, 2024.

Many citizens had urged the president to release the findings when the extended deadline passed.

According to the press statement from the Presidency on April 24, the total fees paid to SML from 2018 till the suspension date amounted to GH¢1,061,054,778.00.

Notably, no fees were disbursed for the upstream petroleum and minerals audit services.

Furthermore, the statement highlighted that the estimated total fees for SML under the 2023 Contract over five years amount to GH¢5,173,091,857.00, averaging around GH¢1 billion annually.

After a comprehensive review of the audit report, President Akufo-Addo endorsed the recommendation to terminate the upstream petroleum and minerals audit services previously provided to GRA by SML. He instructed GRA and the Ministry of Finance to initiate renegotiations of the contract.
