Assembly Member Of Nkotompo Appeals For Renovation of School Building Amongst Other Developments In The Community

The Assembly Member of Nkotompo Electoral Area, Anthony Ephraim, is appealing to Authorities to help repair broken sections of a community primary school which serve as a threat to the safety of school children.

Mr Ephraim, in an interview with Beach Newsroom, says the classrooms get flooded anytime it rains.

However, he mentioned that a new Kindergarten Block built by the Tullow Company has no access to light and water thus calling on authorities to come to their aid.

” Our school was built during the Owusu Ankomah administration. The roofs of the class blocks are all damaged. We close down the school during raining season because teaching can’t go on.

We have been able to build a 3-4 wall block however, the rain water still affects the school.

I have informed the assembly and pictures have been taking. I can’t assure the reconstruction of the roofs this month.

Tullow Oil constructed a new nursery for but we are faced with no light or water. We have informed the assembly and have promised to come to our aid.”

Touching on other issues facing the community, he says, there’s no proper drainage system.

Mr Ephraim further said the drainage system was constructed way back in 2019 but the drainage hasn’t seen any major rehabilitation and added that floods may set in if nothing is done about it.

“The main gutter which all small gutters are channeled to from Nkontompo is choked.

It is a non-concrete structure. The assembly constructed it in 2019, since then they’ve not done any maintenance.

Our community was a flood-prone area but after the construction of the main gutter, we are flood-free.

This is not a situation we can do with our manpower. We plead on the assembly to use the necessary machines needed to drain it.”
