A tragic incident unfolded in Kentinkrono, Ashanti Region, as an unnamed police officer lost his life in a motor accident while chasing a traffic offender.
The accident occurred late afternoon on Wednesday, April 17, resulting in the officer’s untimely demise.
The officer, riding a police patrol motorbike, collided with a stationary truck, sustaining fatal injuries that claimed his life instantly.
Despite immediate efforts to save him, the crash’s severity proved fatal.
Remarkably, the traffic offender being pursued, also on a motorbike, survived the accident.
Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, including the cause of the pursuit and the identity of the traffic offender.
An eyewitness, Mr. Eshun, recounted the events, noting that both the officer and the suspect were speeding and collided with the parked truck.
“They were both speeding and ran into the articulated truck parked on the road,” he stated.
The deceased officer’s body has been taken to the morgue, while the suspect is undergoing medical treatment at a hospital.
