Government pushes for extradition of former MASLOC CEO after 10-year jail sentence

Deputy Attorney General Alfred Tuah-Yeboah has revealed the government’s efforts to ensure the extradition of Sedina Tamakloe Attionu, the former MASLOC CEO, to Ghana to serve her 10-year jail term.

This decision follows the High Court’s verdict on Tuesday, April 16, sentencing Tamakloe to 10 years in prison with hard labor and Daniel Axim, the former Chief Operating Officer of MASLOC, to a five-year jail term.

Deputy Attorney General Tuah-Yeboah welcomed the court’s decision, particularly emphasizing the commitment to bringing Tamakloe back to Ghana for her sentence.

He stated, “Good news but what is refreshing is that she will be brought down to face the sentence, no problem at all.”

Tuah-Yeboah elaborated on the significance of the judgment, highlighting its role in expediting justice and reaffirming Ghana’s legal framework for extraditing individuals from abroad to face legal consequences domestically.

He noted, “We have started the process but with this judgment, it’s going to speed up the process.”

He reassured that individuals facing judgments like Tamakloe’s would be brought to Ghana to face justice under the country’s laws.

The court’s decision found Tamakloe and Axim guilty on 78 counts, including causing financial loss to the state, theft, conspiracy to steal, money laundering, and violating public procurement laws, leading to the loss of public property.
