NSS urges Akufo-Addo to promptly sign National Service Authority Bill
The National Service Scheme (NSS) has urged President Nana Akufo-Addo to promptly sign the Ghana National Service Authority Bill 2024 into law, aiming to grant the secretariat authority and autonomy.
During the policy launch on April 15, 2024, NSS stressed the importance of strengthening and adequately resourcing the scheme to regulate personnel mobilization and deployment.
Osei Assibey Antwi, the Executive Director of NSS, passionately appealed to President Akufo-Addo to endorse the bill, currently under his review.
Mr. Antwi highlighted that the new legislation would enable the authority to expand existing programs like the NSS teaching model and NSS MSME accounting age.
This enhancement would cement NSS’s reputation as a leading institution in West Africa and Africa for deploying service personnel.
In response, President Akufo-Addo encouraged stakeholders to support the scheme in achieving its objectives.
He expressed confidence that the implementation of the new policy document would enable NSS to play a more significant role in shaping Ghana’s future and empowering its youth to realize their potential.
