Four accused persons remanded in custody over alleged murder of soya bean dealer in Tamale

The Tamale District Court in the Northern Region has ordered the detention of four individuals in connection with the murder of Abbas Baba Barnabas, also known as Biggie, a soya bean dealer in the region.

Biggie, aged 39 and a resident of Tamale, was allegedly attacked and killed by a gang while on his way to Gushegu to purchase soya beans.

The incident occurred in a bush near Zingban, under Gushegu, as Biggie was riding a motorbike with his business partner in the area on Friday, March 22, 2024.

The alleged mastermind behind the attack is Baba Abuba, who was supposedly Biggie’s business partner. Abuba reportedly planned to rob Biggie, who was carrying over GHC350,000 at the time, leading to his tragic death.

The four accused individuals, including Baba Abuba, Mayiuba Mayiubor, Wunbei Abu, and James Adam, appeared in court on Wednesday, March 27.

They are facing charges of conspiracy to commit murder, murder, and robbery under Section 46 of the Criminal and Other Offences Act 1980, Act 29.

They have been remanded into police custody and are scheduled to appear in court again on April 11, 2024.
