Sek/Tadi: Internet Disruptions Wreak Havoc on Businesses Nationwide

Following internet connectivity disruptions across the country, businesses that rely heavily on the internet are the hardest hit.

This development is negatively impacting the activities of the public and internet users, especially online business operators.

Speaking to some online business owners in the Metropolis, there have been significant implications, as they are recording financial losses, missed opportunities for sales and marketing, and decreased productivity.

“I am an online vendor who deals in data bundles; I wasn’t able to meet the needs of my clients; many placed orders, and I told them they would receive it. But they didn’t receive it, so they thought I wasn’t legit, and most of them asked for a refund of their money.

I had to pay additional charges when sending the money back, so I had a loss.”

” I work with an insurance company; since the internet went down, we’ve not been able to work on insurance for our clients.”

I work as a graphic designer, and I mostly rely on the Internet for working and promoting my business. I had to deliver some work to my clients, and it became difficult for me because there was no internet.”

However, the National Communications Authority, NCA is assuring the public of the restoration of internet services.

On March 14, 2024, Ghana was plunged into a sudden and unexpected internet blackout, disrupting the lives of millions and severely impacting businesses and social interactions across the nation.
