IMF Urges Ghana to Prioritize Policy Implementation for Economic Stability

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has emphasised the need for steadfast policy and reform implementation to achieve full restoration of macroeconomic stability and debt sustainability in Ghana.

The IMF Director of Communications, Julie Kozack, underscored the importance of the government’s commitment to implementing the programme as planned to foster sustainable growth and policy execution.

She urged the government to maintain vigilance as significant progress is made on the debt restructuring journey.

Miss Kozack said, “The authorities are making good progress on the comprehensive debt restructuring of the domestic exchange, which was completed last year, and on January 12 of this year, the government reached an agreement in principle with the technical bilateral creditors.

Ghana is also in the ageing with its private external creditors to seek their support. Looking ahead, policy and reform implementation will be needed to fully restore economic stability and sustainability in Ghana, It will be crucial for the government to continue implementing the program as envisaged to ensure sustainable growth and policy implementation.
