Ejisu SHTS students displaced due to dorm roof damage

Ejisu

Scores of students from Ejisu Senior High Technical School have been displaced following a rainstorm that tore off the roof of the boys’ dormitory on Saturday, March 2, 2024.

More than 150 affected students sought refuge in classrooms immediately after the incident occurred while they were at the dining hall. Fortunately, no injuries or casualties have been reported.

The prolonged rainfall caused extensive damage to teaching and learning materials, with the school’s storeroom – where textbooks and other resources are stored – also being affected.

Although the boys’ dormitory bore the brunt of the storm, approximately seven classrooms were also impacted. Authorities have taken swift action, providing temporary accommodation for the affected students.

Engineers and officials from the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) of the Ejisu Municipal Assembly have commenced assessing the extent of the damage.

The Municipal Chief Executive for Ejisu, Samuel Oduro Frimpong, along with the Education Director, visited the school to offer assurances of assistance.

Additionally, the Ejisu Experimental and Krapa Basic Schools were also affected by the storm.
