Ukrainian President calls for revoking visas of pro-Putin individuals in Italy
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky suggested that Italy should revoke the visas of individuals with pro-Putin views to prevent them from hindering the delivery of Western military aid to Kiev.
Zelensky’s remarks came after signing a security agreement with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni during her visit to Ukraine’s capital.
Responding to a question from a reporter for Italian daily Corriere della Sera about whether pro-Putin sentiments in Europe could disrupt the flow of weapons to Ukraine, Zelensky emphasized the importance of cancelling visas for such individuals.
He also called on Italy to provide more weapons, including anti-air missile systems.
Kiev often accuses critics in Europe and the US, including politicians and figures like Elon Musk, of propagating Russian propaganda.
Recently, the Ukrainian Embassy in Rome protested against several events related to the conflict with Russia, including an online conference between a school in the Lazio region and one in Russia’s Lugansk People’s Republic, which Ukraine considers as occupied territory.
Additionally, Ukrainian diplomats objected to a planned exhibition and conference in Modena focused on the reconstruction of Mariupol, a city captured by Russia in 2022.
The organizers portrayed Mariupol as a symbol of resistance against the Kiev government, prompting the mayor to cancel the event, citing concerns of it being seen as support for Russia’s military operations.
