The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced its intention to unveil the electoral calendar for 2024 before the conclusion of February 2024.
This decision reflects the Commission’s commitment to maintaining the original December 7 date for the 2024 general elections, despite earlier suggestions for a potential change.
Recent debates have arisen concerning the possibility of altering the date for the 2024 elections, sparked by concerns raised by the Seventh Day Adventist Church regarding the election day coinciding with Saturday, which is observed as a Sabbath day by the Adventists.
Addressing inquiries during the Public Accounts Committee meeting on Wednesday, February 21, Dr. Bossman Asare, the Deputy Chair of the Commission, affirmed that the Commission would soon unveil the 2024 electoral calendar.
Dr. Asare assured the committee, saying, “We will certainly disclose it [the calendar] before the end of February. It should be out by the end of this month [February].”
