Western Command of the Ghana National Fire Service to establish a training facility to enhance firefighters’ skills

The Western Command of the Ghana National Fire Service has launched its first facility project as part of the 2024 Quiz, drills, and Brave Heart Challenge.

The facility seeks to train fire officers to fight fires in the region.

In a keynote address, the Western Regional Fire Commander, ACOP 1 Frederick Ohemeng, mentioned that the training facility will provide the command with an excellent platform for continuous training and development to keep their skills sharp and boost their confidence and current knowledge.

Apart from this, ACOP 1 Ohemeng said, the facility would help them learn the latest firefighting tactics, study the properties of hazardous materials, or practice search and rescue techniques, as well as continue learning and growing as firefighters.

ACOP 1 Ohemeng noted that the region is a complex and ever-evolving landscape, presenting unique challenges and dangers that require firefighters to be constantly vigilant, well-equipped, and highly trained.

The facility is expected to cost about 400, 000 Ghana cedis.

ACOP 1 Ohemeng called on the media, together with stakeholders, to invest in improving the capacities of firefighters by supporting the training facility project and logistical requirements to effectively and efficiently handle any emergency that may arise in the region.

The theme for the launch is, ” Improving the professional ability of firefighters to handle the dynamic volatility of Ghana’s Industrial Hub.”
