Assembly Member Urges Ghana Health Service to Ensure Availability of Medications at Health Centers

The Assembly Member for Effia Electoral Area, Philip Evans Nyarko, has appealed to the Ghana Health Service to make medications readily available at the various health centres.

He observed that some health facilities lack the medicines needed to cater to patients who visit them, adding that patients are often made to buy their prescribed medications outside the facility because they have not been listed under the National Health Insurance Scheme.

At an annual review at EKMA, Mr. Evans Nyarko noted that physician assistants must be given the chance to execute what they have learned and not be sidelined.

Mr. Evans Nyarko said this practice is impeding healthcare services in the communities.

Mr. Nyarko, whilst appealing to healthcare givers to be diligent in their duties, called for support from local authorities to be given to the nurses and doctors.

He, however, called for improved client service at the healthcare facilities.
