Russian President Putin says he prefers Biden over Trump in US Presidency
Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed a preference for a Joe Biden presidency over Donald Trump ahead of the upcoming US election, citing Biden’s experience and predictability.
Putin’s comments are noteworthy considering his earlier praise for Trump before the 2016 election.
Despite Biden being a vocal critic of Putin, the Russian president emphasized Biden’s leadership qualities, dismissing concerns about his age and mental health.
Putin stated that Russia would work with any US president who gains the trust of the American public.
In an on-camera interview with Russian TV, Putin discussed his recent interview with US journalist Tucker Carlson, expressing disappointment in the lack of sharp questions.
He highlighted Biden’s experience, describing him as a “more experienced person” and a “politician of the old formation.”
While Putin acknowledged working with any trusted US president, he criticized Biden’s condemnation of the war in Ukraine as “extremely harmful and erroneous.”
In contrast, during the 2016 election, Trump had suggested a positive relationship with Putin, leading to concerns about their rapport.
In recent controversial remarks, Trump suggested encouraging Russia to attack any NATO member failing to meet financial contribution targets.
NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg responded by urging Trump not to undermine the alliance’s collective security guarantee.
