In the Republic of Ireland, a woman in her late 30s has been brought before court on charges of murdering her six-year-old son.
Ruth Purcell Healy, aged 37 and residing at Bishop’s Field, Williamstown Road, Waterford, appeared in a special session of the city’s district court on Tuesday evening.
The victim, Matthew Healy, was discovered unresponsive in a car near Dunmore East during the early hours of Friday morning.
A detective sergeant from the Garda informed the court that upon her arrest and charge, the accused was given the opportunity to respond, to which she declined with a simple “no thank you”.
The judge ordered the accused to be held in custody at Limerick prison until the next Tuesday.
Additionally, he mandated that she undergo a psychiatric assessment upon arrival.
The funeral arrangements for Matthew Healy have been scheduled for Wednesday.
