Nigeria urges citizens in Kenya to exercise caution amid reports of attacks
Nigeria has urged its citizens residing in Kenya to exercise caution and limit unnecessary movements in light of reports citing “sporadic attacks” against Nigerians in the country.
The Nigerian high commission in Kenya issued this advisory following the association of recent high-profile murders of two young women with Nigerian men, as suggested by some Kenyans.
While authorities have arrested a Kenyan suspect in one of the murder cases, a foreigner holding a Mozambican passport has been detained in the other.
Despite these arrests, speculation has arisen, particularly on social media, suggesting the possible involvement of a Nigerian national in one of the cases, triggering unfounded attacks against Nigerians.
Kenya is home to a sizable Nigerian population, particularly in the capital, Nairobi.
