3 Nigerians arrested for alleged involvement in drug trafficking
Three Nigerians have been apprehended by the Public Health Department of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) on suspicion of selling unlicensed aphrodisiacs and an unidentified liquid claiming to be a heart cleanser.
Following a tip-off, the suspects are currently in police custody, cooperating with investigations to ascertain the origin and composition of the substance before facing charges.
The AMA Health Department has reported that preliminary examinations revealed the alleged heart cleanser caused a plastic takeaway pack to melt upon contact, introducing additional concerns about potential health risks associated with the substance.
Meanwhile, seven individuals involved in the brutal assault that resulted in the death of three people in Kyekyire, near Brongkong in the Afigya Kwabre South district of the Ashanti Region, are scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, January 10, 2024.
Eyewitnesses attribute the incident, which occurred on December 30, 2023, to a clash between two groups of young men.
Joyce Osei Assibey, the assembly member for the Kyekyire-Kyerease electoral area, confirmed to Citi News that a group of armed young men initiated the violence by throwing stones and vandalizing property.
In response, another group confronted them, resulting in three fatalities and several injuries. The police subsequently arrested seven individuals in connection with the incident.
The assembly member revealed that the local residents are now living in fear, with some choosing to leave their homes in the aftermath of the violent clash.
