The National House of Chiefs in Ghana is urging all parties involved in the electoral process to prioritize the establishment of a peaceful and transparent environment for the upcoming 2024 elections.

Emphasizing the importance of ensuring free and fair elections, the President of the National House of Chiefs, Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II, expressed concerns that failure to do so could lead the country down a path of violence similar to past elections.

During a meeting in Kumasi, he called on the Electoral Commission, political parties, media, election observers, and voters to focus on issues rather than engaging in insults or attacks on opponents during campaigns.

He stressed the need for a transparent electoral process to prevent the recurrence of violence that has marred previous elections, emphasizing that electoral violence is costly and should be avoided for the well-being of the nation.
