Three fake police arrested in Asawase

Asawase

Three individuals who allegedly posed as police officers during the district assembly and unit committee elections in Asawase, Ashanti region, have been arrested and placed in police custody.

The suspects, identified as 37-year-old Zakari Yakubu, 24-year-old Godsway Fiakodzo, and 26-year-old Ibrahim Zack, were reportedly observed at Sawaba New Site polling stations A and B, posing as officers monitoring the electoral process.

According to the prosecution, the accused were attired in black outfits, wearing bulletproof vests and equipped with body jackets, pepper sprays, jack knives, and five pairs of handcuffs.

Acting on suspicions of impersonation, law enforcement swiftly apprehended the trio and impounded two motorcycles linked to them.

Inspector Frank Osae, the investigator, and his superiors ensured a prompt court appearance for the suspects. Facing charges of “falsely pretending to be public officers,” the individuals were remanded into police custody after appearing before the Prempeh Assembly Hall District Court. The case has been adjourned to January 6, 2024.
