Village councilor throws grenades at Ukraine council meeting, injuring 26
A village councilor in western Ukraine threw grenades during a council meeting, injuring 26 individuals, as stated by the police.
The incident occurred at the village council headquarters in Keretsky, within the western Zakarpattia region.
Authorities have not disclosed a motive for the attack, leaving six seriously wounded.
During a live-streamed Facebook session of the meeting, footage captured the man entering amid a heated discussion around 90 minutes into the gathering.
He stood near a door for approximately half a minute before hurling three grenades into the center of the room.
The police report mentioned, “As a result, 26 people were wounded, six of whom are in a critical condition,” further stating that medical professionals were attempting to revive the perpetrator.
While many Ukrainians have access to weapons due to the ongoing conflict with Russia, there’s no current evidence linking this attack to the war.
Keretsky, located near the Hungarian border and known for its Hungarian-Ukrainian composition, doesn’t suggest any ethnic motives for the assault.
