Kenya secures 2,500 jobs in Saudi Arabia – President Ruto announces

Saudi Arabia

Kenya’s President William Ruto has announced an agreement allowing the country to export skilled workers, including nurses, to Saudi Arabia.

This deal, finalized on Thursday, marks a significant shift from previously sending only domestic workers.

The initial deployment plans involve 2,500 skilled workers to Saudi Arabia, with President Ruto emphasizing that these workers will receive a monthly salary of 200,000 Kenyan shillings.

This development follows Kenya’s recent commitment to dispatch 1,500 workers to Israel with a guaranteed net monthly income of $1,500, as announced by the country’s labor ministry just a week ago.

President Ruto has actively sought employment opportunities for Kenyans globally, notably negotiating during his trip to Germany for 200,000 job openings.

Highlighting Kenya’s reputation for diligence, President Ruto aims to address the nation’s unemployment crisis by creating more overseas job opportunities.

He believes that Kenyans working abroad can contribute to the country’s foreign exchange reserves, which have dwindled, thereby stabilizing the Kenyan shilling, which has weakened significantly in recent months.
