NDC Deputy Communication Director Criticizes NPP’s Road Construction Performance in Western Region, Pledges Improvement in the Future

The Western Regional Deputy Communication Director of the National Democratic Congress, NDC, Ebenezer Essien says the NPP government has failed woefully given its performance on the construction of roads in the region.

According to the Deputy Communications Director, the NDC did a better job on road construction than the NPP.

Citing some selected roads in the region constructed during the administration of former President Mahama, Mr. Essien reckoned that the next NDC would do better.

” Roads in Boadie, Asankragwa, we’re given on contracts by President Mahama under cocoa roads Everyone will agree that roads are bad in the regions and the country as a whole. If President Mahama hadn’t constructed Apimanim to Elubo Road, what would have happened? Look at Takoradi; from Appolo to Nkroful, look at Tarkwa, Bogoso, Ayamfure, and Wassa Akropong roads. As much as we have lots of work to be done in our road sector, this government has failed woefully.

President Mahama did far better than what we are seeing with this government.”

Mr Essien called on the NPP to settle debts owed to road contractors.

He called on the citizenry to hold governments responsible for the construction of projects.

Mr.Essien said, “It is true that the government will always owe road contractors but if you are a reasonable and competent government you should have a way to go about it such that even though you owe them they will continue to work. How can you give a road on contract and the contractors will abandon it, just because you are failing to pay?

Meanwhile, you have told us that there is money in the system. If you have given roads to contractors to construct, pay them. Why are they not paying them? They have the money.”
