Former President Mahama to visit and interact with Anlo Beach Community in Shama

Former President His Excellency John Dramani Mahama will on Sunday, December 17, 2023, end his two-day campaign tour of the Western Region with a visit to the Anlo Beach Community in the Shama District.

The former president had earlier donated to the Anlo Beach community after tidal waves rendered hundreds of residents there homeless in August.

His visit, therefore, is for him and his team to learn firsthand the challenges that have arisen as a result of the devastation of the tidal waves.

Assemblymember for Anlo Beach, Samuel Borlu, said: “It was with great joy that we received the news of the visit of former President Mahama. Anlo Beach has suffered so much from tidal waves.

Last August, former President Mahama came to our aid after another tidal wave struck and rendered many of us homeless. We are hopeful that his visit will see to the commencement of a more comprehensive and lasting solution to our long-standing request to be relocated.”

National Democratic Congress NDC’s Parliamentary Candidate for Shama Emelia Arthur said: “Former President Mahama’s visit further deepens his long-established commitment to the wellbeing of every Ghanaian. He has already donated to the community and is coming to see things for himself. That’s the mark of a selfless leader.

“He will need the support of not just the people of Shama but Western Region and the whole of Ghana to enable him to bring about the development that has eluded the country for the past eight years.”

Former President Mahama is currently on a campaign tour of the Western North Region.

He has visited and interacted with traditional leaders and other identifiable groups, where he gave more details of his proposed 24-hour economy as well as other policies and interventions.

So far, there has been a resounding endorsement of his recovery programmes for the country.
