Federal prosecutors file tax charges against Hunter Biden

Hunter Biden, son of President Joe Biden, faces a nine-count indictment alleging tax evasion totaling at least $1.4 million from 2016 to 2019.

The charges include failure to file and pay taxes, false tax returns, and evasion of assessment. His lawyer has labeled these charges as politically motivated, emphasizing that the president is not implicated.

The indictment details Hunter Biden’s lavish spending on “drugs, escorts and girlfriends, luxury hotels and rental properties, exotic cars, clothing, and other items of a personal nature” instead of paying taxes.

Prosecutors claim he received over $7 million in income but failed to pay taxes from 2016 to 2020, despite having the means to do so.

Hunter Biden’s attorney, Abbe Lowell, suggested the charges might be influenced by his last name, stating, “if Hunter’s last name was anything other than Biden, the charges in Delaware, and now California, would not have been brought.”

The indictment outlines extravagant expenses, including substantial amounts spent on “adult entertainment,” payments to various women, and luxurious living, while allegedly failing to meet financial obligations like alimony payments.

It accuses him of misrepresenting personal expenses as business costs, including renting luxury cars.

Earlier anticipated plea deals fell through amid questions regarding their nature, deemed “unusual” by a judge.

Meanwhile, allegations have surfaced that Hunter Biden received preferential treatment due to his connection to the president, echoing concerns raised by IRS whistleblowers who deemed the recent indictment a “complete vindication.”

In addition to the tax charges, Hunter Biden faces federal firearm charges related to possessing a gun while using narcotics, to which he pleaded not guilty.

These developments coincide with Republican-led inquiries into Hunter Biden’s business dealings, although the White House has dismissed the entire investigation as fabricated.
