Today, December 7, 2023, Parliament is poised to carry out a headcount vote regarding the approval of the 2024 budget.
On November 29, the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, initially called for a voice vote in favor of the Majority following the conclusion of the budget debate.
However, the Minority Caucus contested the decision, opting for a headcount, prompting the Majority group to stage a walkout.
In response, Speaker Alban Bagbin announced that the headcount vote would take place today, December 7, specifically addressing the approval of the government’s economic policy and budget statement, facilitating the subsequent approval of budget estimates.
