Gyantuahene Of Shama Calls For Unity Amongst Indigenes
The Gyantuahene for the Shama Traditional Area, Nana Kwamina Dekyi, says the chieftaincy dispute is a major contributor to underdevelopment within the community.
He mentioned this during a fundraising durbar as part of activities to mark the 2023 Shama Homecoming celebration on the theme “Breaking the Sins of Our Forefathers.”
The fundraising, he said, is to enable the community to obtain funds for some developmental projects in the area.
“It is my hope that by the end of this celebration, we will get money to complete the stalled projects like the two community centres located at Bentir and Apoo.”
Nana Kwamina Dekyi touching on the theme for the celebrations, noted that the time has come for the Shama community to rise and ensure the best for the community.
According to him, installing a Paramount Chief can propel development and peace in the area.
“We’ve realised that there are some things that we need to eschew as citizens of Shama. The chieftaincy dispute is one major thing that hinders development in this community. Both young and old individuals have agreed that it is about time we get a chief to lead us.
All we need as a people is development. Let’s all come together to build Shama.”
The District Chief Executive for Shama, Ebenezer Dadzie, said the homecoming celebration is essential for the indigenes of Shama as it serves as a platform to map out strategies for development.
