Petroleum Workers Union: Torentco-TOR deal dubious; OSP probe may unveil more

The General Transport, Petroleum, and Chemical Workers Union of the Trades Union Congress (TUC) Ghana insists the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) and Torentco Asset Management Limited lease agreement is suspicious.

They welcome the Office of the Special Prosecutor’s (OSP) directive to suspend TOR’s proposed partnership with Tema Energy and Processing Limited (TEPL).

The union anticipates the OSP investigation will expose crucial details. On November 20, the union petitioned the Special Prosecutor to scrutinize the TOR-Torentco lease, citing concerns about the involvement of the same individuals.

They argue that Tema Energy and Processing Limited aims to entice TOR workers with 20% shares through a questionable entity, the ‘TOR Workers Charity Trust.’

The National Chairman of the Workers Union emphasized the ethical concerns, alleging corruption and conflicts of interest. The union is confident that an OSP investigation will unveil concealed information.
