China trials visa-free travel for six countries, aims to boost high-quality development

China

China is conducting a one-year trial on visa-free travel for citizens from France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, and Malaysia, the country’s foreign ministry announced.

Starting from December until November 30, 2024, individuals holding ordinary passports from these countries can visit or conduct business in China for up to 15 days without requiring a visa.

The initiative aims to advance China’s high-quality development and its commitment to openness, according to spokeswoman Mao Ning, as she stated, “This is to help ‘promote China’s high-quality development and opening up.'”

Presently, most visitors to China are required to obtain a visa for entry.

There are limited exceptions, such as citizens from Singapore and Brunei, who can enter China for purposes like business, tourism, family visits, and transit for a maximum of 15 days without needing a visa.
