Jamie Foxx faces sexual assault lawsuit stemming from alleged incident 8 Years Ago
Jamie Foxx, known legally as Eric Marlon Bishop, is facing a lawsuit from an unnamed woman alleging sexual assault at a New York City restaurant eight years ago.
The accuser claims that after asking for a photo with Foxx, he groped her without consent.
The lawsuit includes claims of “sexual assault, abuse, assault and battery,” seeking damages.
The incident allegedly took place in August 2015 at Catch NYC, where Foxx was reportedly seated near the woman.
According to the lawsuit, Foxx, appearing intoxicated, agreed to a photo, complimented her, then led her to a secluded area where he touched her inappropriately.
The situation ended when her friend intervened.
The lawsuit also involves the restaurant owner, Mark Birnbaum, accusing him and his staff of neglecting their duty to protect her.
The woman claims severe emotional distress, anxiety, humiliation, and other damages due to these “heinous acts.”
This lawsuit arrives just before the closure of the New York Adult Survivors Act, enabling victims of sex crimes to sue even after the statute of limitations expires.
Notably, other prominent figures like Donald Trump, Sean Combs, Bill Cosby, Cuba Gooding Jr., and Russell Brand have faced lawsuits under this act.
Foxx, an Academy Award-winning actor for his portrayal of Ray Charles in “Ray,” hasn’t responded to the allegations.
The restaurant owner, Birnbaum, also hasn’t commented on the matter.
