Kenyan President Ruto in Germany to secure employment opportunities for citizens

President William Ruto has emphasized his mission to create job opportunities for Kenyans in Germany amid Kenya’s escalating unemployment crisis.

His remarks came ahead of his departure for a G20 meeting in Europe, where over a dozen African leaders are converging in Berlin to explore economic prospects, particularly labor export agreements and heightened investments in Africa’s economy.

Ruto highlighted the context, stating, “Germany’s chancellor was in Kenya about three to four months ago. I am travelling to Germany tonight because he promised us that we would secure 200,000 jobs. I must go follow up on those opportunities.”

Chancellor Olaf Scholz, who has recently visited African nations like Kenya and Nigeria, has displayed keen interest in enhancing investment on the continent, particularly in critical minerals and green energy sectors.

The G20 Compact with Africa conference aims to fortify economic connections between African countries and the G20 nations.

Thirteen African nations, including Benin, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Guinea, Morocco, Rwanda, Senegal, Togo, and Tunisia, are part of this program.

Kenya and Nigeria, among other African nations, are participating in the event as guests, signifying the collective effort to explore and expand economic collaborations between Africa and the G20 countries.
