Indigenes of Shama in the Ahanta East District of the Western Region have benefited from free health screening exercises.
This initiative forms part of marking the 2023 Homecoming Week under the theme: Breaking the Sins of Our Forefathers.
The rationale is to prioritize the health needs of both young and old. Among the screenings were malaria, diabetes, and hypertension.
Speaking to Beach News, some beneficiaries expressed excitement about the screening, saying it was a good course.
They mentioned that they were thoroughly examined and given the necessary medical advice.
The medical director in charge of Afrolife Medical Centre at Shama, Dr. Priscilla Gloria Nashlord Bekoe, encouraged the public to take advantage of free health screenings to know their health status.
According to her, undergoing screening can aid in identifying latent diseases early, facilitating timely treatment to avert potential complications.
She highlighted that individuals diagnosed during the screening received prescribed medications, with some being referred to healthcare facilities for additional treatment.
