The National Media Commission (NMC) has cautioned 15 television stations, instructing them to refrain from broadcasting content deemed inappropriate.

The NMC has warned of serious consequences if they fail to rectify their actions.

These TV stations, reported by the public for content violating media ethics, Ghanaian culture, and norms, include Asomafo TV, Adwenpa TV, Eagle TV, Best TV, Energy TV, Diamond TV, X TV, Asomdwie TV, Funny TV, Advice TV, Big TV, Passion TV, Nkabom TV, Seekers TV, and Elephant TV.

In a statement on Thursday, the NMC revealed that 318 incidents were reported, covering money-doubling, money rituals, fake lotteries, occultic practices, and pornography.

The commission, in collaboration with the National Communications Authority (NCA), aims to address these content deficits.

The National Media Commission emphasized a need for the listed stations to cease such activities, or face severe consequences.

Regarding Onua TV/Radio, the NMC will soon announce its decision. A final warning was issued to Captain Smart and Onua Radio/TV over an inflammatory broadcast where the Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS) and other Commanders of the Ghana Armed Forces were insulted.

The NMC deemed the broadcast “dangerous” and “unprofessional,” citing a lack of evidence for claims made by Captain Smart.

The NMC has given Onua Radio/TV and Captain Smart until November 19, 2023, to withdraw insults, apologize to the CDS and the public, and implement measures to address the station’s regulatory compliance and dangerous behavior.
