Kwame Appiah Attributes The Reluctance Of Ghanaian Parents To Allow Their Children To Pursue Music To The Typical Behavior Exhibited By Many Musicians

The legendary highlife artiste who doubles as a King now, Nana Kakyire Kwame Appiah, has revealed that most parents aren’t happy with their wards entering the entertainment industry because of how most artiste portray themselves.

In an interview with Nana Ama Shancy on Spice 91.9fm, Nana Kakyire Kwame Appiah disclosed that during his hay days, when he wanted to start music, his parents opposed it until they realized that’s the only thing he desired to do.

The ’24th’ crooner explained that he never blamed them then, but rather some of the artiste.

“When I decided to do music, my family was against me because of the mark some artiste had left. There’s a notion that artiste live wayward, and mostly it’s true. Most artiste do not even have properties, and at the end, they’ll be soliciting for funds that no parent would want their children to live,”, he explained.

Kakyire believes most artiste tend to be what people expect them to be but for him, he carved a niche for himself. He insisted that he’d never end up like most artiste who became the other side of themselves when they started getting money and fame. “I said to myself that I’d never drink nor smoke, not to talk of womanizing, and I stood by it.

Even though I had a girlfriend and a few friends, I never misbehaved. You can still be an artiste and create an excellent path for others to follow. I produced 38 artiste and 76 albums with the money I got from music, so this will even tell you I was using my money wisely. I was one of the richest musicians back then”, he disclosed.

According to the Soroku hitmaker, he never had issues with any of the artiste he produced because everything was contractual.
