Quashigah

Mrs. Gertrude Quashigah, the National Coordinator of the School Feed Programme, passed away on Sunday, November 12, 2023.

Born on February 1, 1960, in Dzelukope, Keta, Volta Region, she was not only a notable figure in the hospitality industry but also made significant contributions to Ghana’s food sector as the CEO of Ambar Quality Foods Limited.

Mrs. Quashigah, wife of the late Major Courage E. K Quashigah (Rtd), a former Minister in the Kufuor administration, graduated from Keta Secondary Senior High School and pursued further studies in her chosen field.

Leading the Ghana School Feeding Programme, she played a pivotal role in ensuring that children nationwide had access to nutritious meals, thereby improving school enrolment, attendance, and overall student well-being.

In May 2021, Mrs. Quashigah was relieved of her position as National Coordinator, with the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection instructing her to hand over official documents and property.

Although no reason was provided for her removal in the letter dated May 18, 2021, President Nana Addo Dankwa-Akufo-Addo later reversed the decision.
