Journalists To Recieve Training Prior To 2024 Polls
The Ghana Journalists Association, GJA in collaboration with the US Embassy has launched a 10-month project aimed at promoting peaceful media platforms ahead of the 2024 elections.
Under this project, professional development will be offered to online editors, producers, on-air personalities, and talk show hosts to build their knowledge in contributing to the violence-free platforms.
It will also promote long-term learning among participants that would contribute to upholding freedom of expression and credible polls.
President of the Association Albert Dwumfour, speaking at the launch, mentioned that the Association will not condone any unprofessional conduct ahead of the general elections.
The government’s Spokesperson on governance and security, Palgrave Boakye Danquah commended the GJA and the US Embassy for the initiative.
He said, the government will collaborate with stakeholders for credible and violence-free elections to sustain peace in the country.
Press Attache at the US Embassy, Kevin Brosnahan said the Embassy will support GJA’s regional training for journalists to improve issue-based reporting on elections, and help fight election misinformation and misinformation.
