We Might Need AI To Send Referees To Games —W/R Minister

The Western Regional Minister, who also doubles as the Member of Parliament for Takoradi Constituency, Kwabena Okyere Darko Mensah has suggested that due to the uncertainties surrounding the game of football, especially with officiating there would be a need for AI to control these officiating anomalies.

“I don’t understand why football clubs should be allowed to take care of match officials before and after games, including their transportation, accommodation and feeding, you risk compromising the results, so if we should use AI to send officials to games, it will help avoid clubs taking control of officials.”

Hon. Kobby Okyere-Darko Mensah said these when the Sports Writers Association of Ghana, Western Regional Branch, paid a courtesy call at his office at the Regional Coordination Council (RCC)

“I believe Referees Association of Ghana (RAG) should be totally independent of the GFA to allow them to operate freely and I think it’s about time Clubs run themselves with business minds and not just the old ways”

The Western Regional Minister assured the press that the contractor working on the Essipong Sports Stadium at Sekondi will resume renovation this December.

The newly elected Western Regional executives of SWAG led by President George Kuntu Blankson and Vice Abaidoo Abednego thanked the Minister and promised to work hard to ensure sports development in the region.
