Bawumia expresses confidence in winning the NPP presidential primary
Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has expressed his confidence in his chances of winning the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primary on November 4, 2023. However, he also acknowledged that the final outcome rests in the hands of God.
After casting his ballot at the NPP Headquarters, Bawumia stated, “I’m reasonably confident of winning, but it’s in God’s hands.”
Bawumia is among four candidates competing for the NPP flagbearer position, along with Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong, former Agriculture Minister Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, and former Mampong MP Francis Addai-Nimoh.
Dr. Mustapha Hamid, the Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), endorsed Bawumia for the flagbearer position in an earlier interview.
Hamid praised Bawumia’s experience, competence, and charisma, describing him as “the only candidate who has a realistic chance of winning.”
On Saturday, over 200,000 NPP delegates nationwide are participating in the election to select a presidential candidate for the 2024 election. To discourage party members from resigning after the primary, all four candidates signed an agreement on October 2, pledging not to resign if they are not victorious.
