Zoomlion Ghana refutes VRA contract for fumigation in Dam spillage areas
Zoomlion Ghana Limited strongly denies allegations that it was hired by the Volta River Authority (VRA) to conduct fumigation in areas impacted by the controlled Akosombo Dam spillage.
These reports suggested that Zoomlion was contracted for fumigation in the lower Volta regions.
In response, Zoomlion’s management released a statement, categorically rejecting these claims as misleading and without basis.
They particularly pointed to a journalist, Manasseh Azure Awuni, who has made various allegations against Zoomlion over the past decade.
Zoomlion emphasized that it was not contracted by the VRA for fumigation in the mentioned affected areas, contrary to Mr. Awuni’s assertions.
They found his allegations to be baseless and lacking factual support. They criticized him for sensationalism and questioned his journalistic integrity and professional ethics.
Zoomlion challenged Manasseh Azure Awuni to provide evidence to back his claims and affirmed their unwavering commitment to supporting communities in the Volta Region and across Ghana as part of their corporate social responsibility.
On October 30, the Volta River Authority began a substantial disinfection and fumigation operation in areas affected by the controlled Akosombo Dam spill, starting in Mepe, a region with a significant number of affected individuals.
